Babylon is an ancient city that for many centuries was the cultural and economic center of Mesopotamia, and the Babylonians were the most developed people of their time. An important place in the culture of Babylon was occupied by names consisting of a personal name, patronymic and surname. They necessarily included a mention of some Babylonian god and looked more like a small prayer. For example, Tab-Tsili-Marduk, is translated as "Good canopy of Morduk." The names of slaves in Babylon differed from the names of free citizens, they contained an indication of the slave status of the carrier. Surnames and patronymics were not supposed to be slaves.
