Latvia is a small country in Northern Europe with a population of less than 2 million people. Latvian names are divided into three groups. The first one is Latvian nouns and adjectives turned into names. The second is the names of the characters of ancient folklore. The third group is made up of modified Christian names. The ending "s" must be added to any male names in Latvia. This even applies to the names of foreign citizens, which often becomes an occasion for jokes.
