Circassians (or Adyghes) are one of the small nationalities of the Russian Federation, most of whose representatives live in Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia and on the territory of the Krasnodar Territory. Also, a large Circassian diaspora is located in Turkey, where the ancestors of the Turkish Circassians moved after the defeat in the Caucasian War. The history of this people is generally closely connected with Turkey, which is manifested in the language and names. Circassian names are mostly of Turkic origin. But the surnames and patronymics underwent Russification.
